Articulated kneeling bus

In close cooperation between us and our project partners, the company Vossloh Kiepe AG, Duesseldorf and Hess AG, Bellach (CH), we developed the engine 175 G DMPME for an articulated kneeling bus project.

The specific requirements of our power unit have been determined by applying the vehicle as a Duo-bus.

The end customer, a Swiss transport company, required a high electrical output of 175 kW (2nd energy source), for which only a very limited installation space was available. In addition to that we had to achieve any further customer requirements ( eg. adjusting the power unit to the set of characteristic curves of Duo-busses and control / monitoring via CAN-bus).

As a solution we presented a tower of a power unit and cooling system in compliance with the required installation conditions. Just because of the short type of construction of our PME-generator and the optimization of cooling systems for engine, charged air and generator, it was possible to realize the transverse installation in the rear.
